SOAR

SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) is a set of systems developed to collect, organize, standardize, and automate cybersecurity information from various sources.

 

With the increasing amount of data available on the internet, it becomes challenging to organize and report on the diverse and large volumes of data amidst growing threats in the background. SOAR enhances organizations' ability to respond to threats and facilitates business processes by managing the increasing diversity and volume of data.
Teams such as Network Operations Centers (NOCs) and Security Operations Centers (SOCs) with 10 or more employees should utilize SOAR and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management).
The key components of the SOAR concept are automation and orchestration.
Automation involves the rapid and error-free implementation of manual processes within an automation environment, while orchestration involves bringing together and integrating various cybersecurity applications and services.

 

As attacks become more sophisticated, threat intelligence must also accelerate. SOAR enables faster learning and response times. It simplifies the detection of suspicious activities and shortens response times. By consolidating information from data sources, SOAR enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and automates responses. As a result, while SIEM analyzes events and reports findings, SOAR understands events and takes countermeasures.
